A recent survey from adobe discovered that the average employee spends 3.1 hours a day checking their emails. Of those, the vast majority constitute little more than a glorified distraction from more important tasks. The issue is that in order to know which emails are important and which arenât, you must spend time on every single one. At minimum, you read the subject line and message preview, before making a half-second judgement on whether itâs even worth the open. Multiply this process by a hundred emails or so a day, and a significant portion of your time vanishes into the inbox abyss.
CARa is an AI-enabled system that puts this issue to rest for good. Without getting technical, think of CARa as a far more sophisticated version of âemail rulesâ. Using a proprietary algorithm based on state-of-the-art reinforcement learning and sentiment analysis models, CARa learns the patterns with which you interact with your email inbox. Capable of automatically categorizing, prioritizing, and responding to emails, the system allows you to automate away as much of this daily task as you feel comfortable with. CARa ensures you only deal with messages that she has been taught require your direct attention, while all others are handled in line with your expectations. With enough data, CARa is able to respond to messages with the exact style and voicing that you would actually use, making a response from her completely indistinguishable from you to the recipient.Â
A Closer Look â Training the Agent
CARa operates using three distinct modes:
- Passive Learning: In the passive learning mode, the system simply takes a backseat and monitors inbox activity. You use your email system the way you normally do, while CARa begins to assemble a picture of how you approach your incoming messages.
- Note: This process can be sped up dramatically if you have a large archive of emails.
- Active Learning: In the active learning mode, the system will attempt to make its own decisions on how things should be done. At every major decision point (such as sending a reply, deleting an email, assigning a concrete rule), the system will ask you if the decision was made properly. This allows you to âteachâ CARa how things work, preventing mistakes while guiding the system in the early stages of its cognitive development.
- Working: In the working mode, the system fully takes over the operations of your inbox. Except for the emails youâve taught the system you need to read, your inbox will be automatically processed. All responses, organization, and maintenance is handled, completely hands off.
- CARa can also produce a summary log of the conversations the system automatically had on your behalf. This makes sure you are completely tuned in, while allowing you to spend as little time as possible on everyoneâs most time-consuming task.
